How
often do you make trips?
We make trips on demand. There is no set drop off/pick up schedule, but we do stop making drop offs two hours before the Dam Release to ensure the safety of those who are floating with us. If the dam release is late, the last trip to go out is promptly 4 PM. These end times are non negotiable, our last trip hits the water at 4 PM so showing up at 4:05 and hoping to jump in won't work. Please call the store or check the Facebook page for the Release time and last trip schedule.
What is the "Dam Release".. sounds scary.
Buford dam is released usually once a day to release excess water from the lake, as well as help out our neighbors to the west and the east with some fresh water. The river rises rapidly and the over all speed also increases, which is why we stop putting folks out two hours prior.
What is the Age limit?
We ask that parents use the utmost caution when bringing children under the age of 10, and no child under the age of 6 or any child unable to swim is permitted to float with us.
Can we bring Alcohol?
Alcohol in moderation is fine, but have a Designated Driver or other means of transportation if everyone in your party is drinking. We won't give keys back to anyone the staff thinks might be over the limit!
Do I have to wear shoes?
The best footwear for the river would be sandals with straps, or water shoes. We have water shoes for sale at the shop!
I've been to places where we had to walk our tubes/boats for hours.. How is the water level?
The water level varies anywhere from 3 to 20 feet, at an average of about 7 to 8 feet.
Is it safe?
There is always a small risk in anything concerning a natural river, but there are no rapids over a class 2, and you are provided with all safety equipment.
Is fishing OK?
Of course. You are more than welcome to come out and rent a fishing NuCanoe and head out for the day with your poles. We ask, however, that you give us a pick up time or bring a phone to let us know thirty minutes in advance of when you wish to be picked up. (Drivers will identify key points a long the river to let you know when to call)
Can you give us rope to tie our Tubes together?
Unfortunately, no. If you wish to tie your tubes together, please bring your own equipment to do so. Life jackets should never be used to connect tubes.
Can I bring my own PFD(Personal Flotation Device)/Life jacket?
Yes, you can, if it is Coast Guard certified. Check the inside of the life jacket for the certification label. If you don't have one, you should return the PFD/Life Jacket to where you purchased it from! We have personal PFD's for sale at the store as well.
